The Location

Fremington Hall Farm is located in an elevated position in the small, peaceful hamlet of High Fremington, with views across and up beautiful Swaledale, with countless walks and bike rides from the door.

What to do in the local area

Fremington Hall Farm is a short walk from a variety of local amenities and tourist attractions. Five minutes walk is the Dales Bike Centre with its bike hire facilities and enticing cakery. 10 minutes walk is the River Swale  and The Bridge Inn in Grinton, or head West to the picturesque village of Reeth.

Reeth's village green is surrounded by historic buildings, which include three pubs with food and occassional live music, a post office and corner shop, gift shops and the ever popular Ice Cream Parlour. The Two Dales Bakery in Reeth is a must visit for fresh bread and pastries, as well as delicious cooked food. There is also a children's playground behind the village overlooking Swaledale.

Beyond Reeth the dales split with Arkengarthdale and the cosy village of Langthwaite to the north, featuring the Red Lion pub with a fascinating array of memorabilia from the 1980's All Creatures Great and Small, filmed in the local area. Heading North from Reeth, Swaledale offers a number of villages (and pubs!) including Gunnerside, stunning Muker and finally Keld, with its famous waterfalls.

20 minutes drive to the east of Reeth is the historic town of Richmond, with its castle and cobbled streets. 20 minutes to the south takes you over the moor tops to Wensleydale, famous for its expansive valley, Aysgarth Falls and of course, it's cheese - there's even a Creamery & Cheese Museum in Hawes.

Getting around

You can plan a trip using the Dales bus service but we must emphasise that this is a limited service.

While there are a wide variety of walks and bike rides from the door, should you wish to explore the wider area of upper Swaledale, Richmond and Wensleydale, you would require a car or be happy to cycle. At Fremington Hall Farm, we offer free parking and bike storage.

The nearest train station is either Northallerton or Darlington (both approx. 40 minute drive). Trains go regularly from London Kings Cross (South) & Newcastle (North).
